AI flight returns to city after engine snag

An Air India Express flight from Mangaluru to Doha returned midway following engine failure on Thursday, according to an AI official.

The flight IX 821 took off from the airport at 5.40 p.m. and returned 45 minutes later, the official said adding that the aircraft landed safely. It had 173 passengers. They would be flown to Doha by a 5.30 a.m. flight on Friday. the official said.

An Airport Authority of India official said aircraft operations did not suffer because of this incident.
