Age relaxation for transgenders for pension

September 20, 2014 12:10 pm | Updated 12:10 pm IST - BANGALORE:

The State government has reduced the minimum age limit for transgenders from 30 years to 25 years to get the monthly pension of Rs. 500 under its Mythri scheme. Now, transgenders in the age group of 25 to 65 are eligible for pension.

Revenue Minister V. Srinivas Prasad handed over a copy of the notification in this regard, issued on August 5, to members of transgenders’ association at his office in the Vidhana Soudha on Friday to create awareness among them about the relaxation of the age limit.

He told them that the government would provide below the poverty line ration cards to all the beneficiaries of this pension scheme so that they could get 30 kg of rice at Re. 1 a kg a month.
