Aerospace Processing India opens Phase II facility

Aerospace Processing India Pvt. Ltd. reached another milestone by inaugurating its Phase II state-of-the-art facility at Aequs SEZ near Hattargi in Belagavi district on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Aravind Meligeri, Aequs Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said that the capability expansion marked another key milestone in the growth and development of aerospace manufacturing in India.

Mr. Meligeri said the Rs.432 crore unit equipped with 120 trained and skilled human resource would accommodate additional capacity and capabilities supporting water-based paint, solid film lubricant, sulphuric acid anodizing, zinc-nickel plating and additional processes.

He said Aerospace Processing India Pvt. Ltd. was continuing to grow and develop critical capabilities in India’s aerospace manufacturing sector. Phil Underwood, President and CEO, Magalan Aerospace, a partner in the Phase II facility of Aerospace Processing India Pvt. Ltd., remarked that the facility and its relationship with the Aequs met Magellan’s expectations. He also expressed confidence of witnessing further capability-expansion in the developing Indian aerospace industry.

He said the Magellan Aerospace is a global, integrated aerospace company providing complex assemblies and systems’ solutions to aircraft and engineer manufacturers, and defence and space agencies across the world. Magallen designs, engineers and manufactures aero-engine and aero-structure assemblies and components for aerospace markets, besides advance products for military and space markets, industrial power generation and other speciality products. It has operating units throughout Canada, US, United Kingdom, India and Poland.

Later in afternoon, Minister for Large and Medium Industries R.V. Deshpande, who formally inaugurated the facility, said that the development in Belagavi was instrumental in the country’s growth in aerospace sector.

Minister for Small Scale Industries and district in-charge Satish L. Jarkiholi was present.
