After Formula Manipal race car’s good performance in national and international competitions, Manipal Institute of Technology’s AeroMIT team has brought laurels to the Institute. The AeroMIT team did well at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay’s ‘Techfest’ in January.
This was the team’s maiden appearance in a domestic competition. The team won two prizes and is now headed for the U.S. on March 7, 2015, for the world competition.‘Techfest’ is considered to be the largest such fest in Asia and is a prestigious competition that attracts thousands of participants every year for its multiple events.
There were two events which were concerned with RC plane modelling — Aviator Design and Aviator Flying. AeroMIT participated in both competitions and emerged first out of 46 teams in the former and second out of 52 teams in the latter.
In Aviator Design, participants were tasked with the design and fabrication of a lightweight, fast and efficient model plane within certain specifications, including weight and dimension restrictions.
