After bandh, protests, processions, candle light vigils and so on to pay tribute the deceased IAS officer D.K. Ravi and the people in Kolar even conducted religious ceremony to mark the 11 day ceremony for him.
This stands as testimony to the kind of affection Mr. Ravi earned during his short stint as Deputy Commissioner in Kolar before he was moved to Bengaluru as Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Enforcement). With tear filled eyes, people from various walks of life, from auto drivers to government employees, from students to advocates, participated in the programmes. Representatives of a number of organisations in towns and villages put up flexes of Mr. Ravi, illuminated them, performed pujas and distributed food to people at various places including the premises of DC office.
The people, who felt as if they lost a family member of their own, befittingly observed the religious ceremony even as the deceased officer’s family performed it at his native in Doddakoppalu in Tumakuru district.
Blood donation camps, harikathas, bhajans and mythological dramas were some other activities organised to pay respect.
