Activists protest over derecognition of student outfit at IIT-M

The district unit of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday against the Union Government and burnt its effigy to protest against the derecognition of the Ambedkar-Periyar Study Circle by the IIT-Madras administration.

State organising convenor of the Samiti Malleshi Sajjan accused the Union Government for its move to derecognise the of study circle without seeking explanations from the students. He said the decision to derecognise the study circle taken by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development was undemocratic.

Mr. Sajjan criticised the Union Government for adopting an ‘autocratic attitude’.
