Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday said that the government will take action against those accused of being involved in illegal mining after receiving a report from a high-power committee headed by Chief Secretary S.V. Ranganath.
He said though the Lokayukta submitted a report on illegal mining in 2011, the BJP government had not taken any action on it.
The high-power committee has been studying the recommendations made by the K. Jairaj committee and also the observations of the Supreme Court on illegal mining. The government was also examining the issue from the legal angle, he said.
On the issue of Agriculture Price Commission, he said that the government has been consulting experts on the issue.
A similar commission has been functioning at the Centre. However, a Rs. 1,000 crore revolving fund has been set up to provide compensation to farmers for crop loss on account of drought or floods, he said.
