ACB traps village accountant

Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), on Friday, arrested a village accountant of Doddakondagola in Hassan taluk while accepting a bribe of Rs.8,000 from a resident of the village to issue a khata.

The ACB, in a press release, identified the arrested as Jayaram. A resident of the village had recently purchased one acre and 10 guntas of land and had approached the official for a khata. The officer had demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 to issue the khata, following which the resident lodged a complaint with the ACB. Following the complaint, the sleuths caught the official red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.8,000 on Friday.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
