Activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad have demanded that the State government immediately release scholarship amounts to the students of SC/ST hotels, which was due since two years.

The activists took out a procession from Rani Channamma Circle to the D.C. Office where they staged a demonstration and submitted a memorandum in support of their demands, which included release of additional grants to improve infrastructure facilities in all the hostels run by the departs of Social Welfare and Backward Classes & Minorities in the State to improve hygiene value, cleanliness, clean drinking water and opening of more hostels to accommodate more students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society.

The activists also demanded that the government subsidise tuition fees for all students belonging to poor families, and provide proper infrastructure facilities in all government colleges by allocating special grants.

Drawing attention towards the lack of lecturers in government pre-university colleges, the ABVP sought filling of vacancies of all the vacant posts at the earliest.
