The Karnataka unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), on Wednesday condemned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir over the release of separatist leader and Hurriyat Conference hardliner, Masarat Alam in Srinagar recently.

The ABVP, a students’ organisation which enjoys strong ideological association with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and its political face the Bharatiya Janata Party, demanded the Union government to initiate appropriate action against the J&K government for compromising with the State and national security and ensure that the released leader was arrested immediately.

The ABVP activists shouted slogans criticising the Union government for its questionable silence and the J&K government for releasing the separatist leader.

As part of its state-wide protest, the ABVP activists staged a demonstration at Rani Channamma circle for a while and later submitted a memorandum to the centre through the district administration. The protest was led by Karunakar Pujari, ABVP State Executive Committee member.
