Enrolment for the multipurpose Aadhaar card is likely to resume in Dharwad district in the first week of December.
Speaking at a meeting on resuming Aadhaar registration here on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Sameer Shukla said the district had recorded 34.22 per cent achievement in Aadhaar registration in the last phase. Of the 18.51 lakh people in the district, 6.33 lakh had enrolled in the first phase.
Nearly, 200 registration centres would be set up for enrolment in the second phase, he added. Ravindran, Chief Executive Officer of the Department of e-Governance, said the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) process accepts 18 proof of identity (PoI) and 33 proof of address (PoA) documents. Common proofs of identity and address are electoral photo ID card, ration card, passport and driving licence. Photo ID cards such as PAN card and government ID cards can be submitted as identity proof. Address proof documents include water/electricity/ telephone bills from the last three months.
If a person does not have any of these documents, a certificate of identify having photo issued by a gazetted officer/tahsildar will be accepted as PoI. Certificate of address having photo issued by an MP/MLA /gazetted officer/tahsildar or by a village panchayat head or any equivalent authority (for rural areas) will be accepted as valid PoA.
If someone in a family does not have individual valid documents, the resident could still enrol his/her name if it exists in the family entitlement document. In this case, the head of the family in the entitlement document needs to be enrolled first with valid PoI and PoA document. The head of the household could then introduce other members of the family when they are enrolling, Mr. Ravindran said.
