The Zilla Panchayat has introduced Aadhaar enabled biometric attendance system (AEBAS) in government high schools across the district.
The Zilla Panchayat has provided an Android-enabled tablet for each school in which the AEBAS application is installed. The head master of the respective school will be the custodian of the device. The tablet phones were handed over to the headmasters by Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar in a programme held at Zilla Panchayat hall in the city on Monday. President of the Zilla Panchayat Jyoti Kumar, Vice-President Veda Vijakumar, and Chief Executive Officer Rakesh Kumar were present.
Under AEBAS, the teachers should register with ktzpshivamogga.attendance.gov.in, the webportal of the Zilla Panchayat formed to monitor the attendance. After registration, a login ID and password would be provided for the user. The ID would be the first six or the last six digits of the Aadhaar number of the employee.
After accessing the portal through the login ID, the attendance should be registered by entering the biometric information which will be authenticated by matching it with the data stored in the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) database. The biometric details, including thumb impression of the user, would be verified with the data stored in the UIDAI database. Narayana Gowda, Deputy Director, Department of Public Instruction, told presspersons here that the tablet device, battery charger, USB cable and a SIM card have provided to the headmasters. An instruction manual has also been provided.
The working of AEBAS system would be monitored from the office of the National Informatics Centre on the premises of the Zilla Panchayat. The system has been adopted to ensure better monitoring of the attendance of teaching and non-teaching staff at government schools in the district. All the 16 government high schools in the district have been provided with the device.
