A voracious reader

Not many know that Wadiyar was a voracious reader. He had a large collection of books on varied subjects at the library inside his residential palace in Amba Vilas.

He had special interest in reading books on philosophy, theology, political science and economics, according to the website of Parliament.

His favourite pastime and recreations included collecting objects of art and watches.

He was fond of cars and had a fleet of the top brands. Wadiyar’s literary, artistic and scientific accomplishments are also many.

According to the website, Wadiyar had passed practical piano forte senior examination in western classical music with merit and theory intermediate from the Trinity College of Music in London, the U.K.
