A plastic-free mela

May 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - MYSURU:

The Mango Mela will be plastic-free.

Dinesh Kumar, Senior Assistant Director of Horticulture, Mysuru, told The Hindu that the organisers had made arrangements to procure cartons from the Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation for the mela.

“We will provide the cartons, which cost Rs. 18, at 50 per cent subsidy. Each carton can carry three kg. We will also make available cloth bags. If the consumers want to buy lesser quantities, they can bring their own cloth bags or buy them,” Mr. Kumar said.
