The Dr. T.M.A. Pai Chair on Indian Literature at Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities (MCPH) will be organising a morning of curated musical performances from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. here on Sunday.
A press release issued by the MCPH said that the legendary Subhadramma Mansur will perform her life story in a song. At 75, Dr. Mansur is one of the most treasured theatre and vocal (dialogue and music) practitioners in India.
Dr. Mansur began her career as a child artist, and has been performing to critical and popular acclaim for more than six decades.
Also performing are five distinguished folk artists from Mysuru, who will bring to life female narratives in the Kannada folk tradition. Distinguished folklorist Krishnamurthy Hanur will introduce the piece.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Gangubai Hanagal Auditorium, MCPH, Dr. T.M.A. Pai Planetarium Complex on the Alevoor Road here. The event is open to the public and there is no entry fee.
The Chair is currently held by the renowned Kannada writer Vaidehi at MCPH, the release added.
