A marked increase in turnout in Tumkur

In keeping with the general trend, women lagged behind men in exercising their franchise in the Tumkur Lok Sabha constituency.

While the turnout among men in the constituency was 73.93 per cent (5,65,044 men of the total 7,64,260 voted), it was 71.05 per cent among women (5,35,561 of the total 7,53,766 women voted). Only 12 of the 118 voters from the ‘other’ category voted.

The constituency registered a turnout of 72.5 per cent, a marked increase from that in 2009 (64.79 per cent). While the Tumkur Rural segment recorded 78.07 per cent turnout, the Tumkur City segment recorded 63.11 per cent.
