Congress candidate for Hassan Lok Sabha seat A. Manju submitted his nomination papers on Wednesday, which was the last day to file the papers. He submitted four sets of papers to the Returning Officer and was accompanied by his wife Tara Manju, District Congress Committee president B. Shivaram and other leaders.
Mr. Manju visited Hanyalamma temple at his native village, Hanyalu, and the Shakti Ganapati and Doddamma temples in Arkalgud before reaching Hassan to file the nomination papers.
According to the filed affidavit, Mr. Manju and his wife own properties worth Rs. 16.52 crore. Mr. Manju has assets worth Rs. 7.71 crore while his wife owns assets worth Rs. 8.81 crore.
Mrs. Manju owns land in Somwarpet taluk worth Rs. 2 crore, as well as ancestral property worth Rs. 6.04 on Lavelle Road in Bangalore. Her husband also has commercial property on Lavelle Road in Bangalore, as well as in Ramanathpura in Arkalgud and residential properties at Hanyalu and Arkalgud town.
They also own a Maruti Omni, a Toyota Innova and a Ford Ikon, as well as a tractor and a two-wheeler.
Mr. Manju owns 150 gm of gold ornaments worth Rs. 4.5 lakh and 200 gm of silver worth Rs. 1 lakh, while his wife owns 500 gm of gold worth Rs. 16 lakh and 1,500 gm of silver worth Rs. 75,000.
