The pensioners covered under Employee Provident Fund have been advised to submit the ‘Jeevan Praman Patra’ (Digital Life Certificate) before Jan.15 to ensure continuity of pension payments. Else, their pensions would be withheld.

Addressing a press conference, H. Chandrakanth Gadiyar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-II, Sub-Regional Office, Hubballi, said here on Friday that the government introduced the JPP for the EPF pensioners to provide hassle-free service and reduce paper work. It had also been made mandatory for the pensioners to submit the DLC to continue getting monthly pensions.

The pensioners can approach the EPFO offices or the Common Service Centres (CSC) along with Pension Payment Order (PPO), Adhar Card, Bank Account number and a mobile phone to complete the process. The pensioners must submit these details in person as they are required to submit their biometric finger prints at these counters.

While there was no fee to submit the DLC at EPFO offices, the government had permitted CSCs to collect only Rs.10 per application and not more. If any CSC collects more than Rs.10, the pensioners can complain to EPF officials and appropriate action would be taken, he said. There have been several complaints of CSCs in Belagavi city collecting Rs.50 for the forms.

Mr. Gadiyar said of the total 67,845 pensioners availing services through the Sub-Regional Office in its jurisdictional districts of Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Uttar Kannada, so far only 17,000 had updated their DLCs.

Alister B.L., Enforcement Officer, EPFO, Belagavi was present.
