Tusker found dead in G.S. Betta range

A tusker, about eight years of age, was found dead in Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta forest in Chamarajanagar district on Sunday.

Hiralal, Director, Bandipur Tiger Reserve, told The Hindu that the elephant may have died of natural causes. The death could have occurred on Saturday.

The post-mortem had been conducted and a report on teh same was awaited, Mr. Hiralal said, denying reports that the death was caused by a fight with another elephant.
