Rly. Police arrest two inter-Stategang members, two escape

The Government Railway Police, Raichur, arrested two inter-State gang members who were said to be involved in several train robberies and recovered gold ornaments worth ₹ 9.10 lakh on Thursday.

The police gave the names of the accused as Sultan and Mahaveer Balaveera of Haryana State. Two other gang members managed to escape, they said.

The police said that the arrested men used to board AC bogies by purchasing travelling tickets and pick gold ornaments from passengers by diverting their attention during the journey.

On a tip-off, the police launched an operation and arrested the accused.

The accused were said to be involved in robberies that were reported under the Ballari and the Raichur Railway Police limits.

They are also named as accused in several robbery cases registered in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana State, the police said.
