Passengers of a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus had a harrowing time in Maddur on Thursday after finding a bag filled with the body parts of an animal in the bus.

According to the police, an unidentified man boarded the bus with the bag full of decomposed animal parts. The other passengers asked him to get out because of the foul stench coming from his side, with a few of them growing suspicious of his bag and asking him to open it. However, the man jumped out of the bus and ran away, leaving the bag behind.

The bag was filled with bones, veins and flesh of an animal. Upon seeing the contents, the passengers alerted the KSRTC officials at the Maddur bus stand. Initially, it was suspected that the man was trying to transport human body parts, but it was later confirmed this was not the case, the Maddur police said.

“We have received a petition from the KSRTC and have handed over the body parts to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services,” said Mathew Thomas, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Malavalli sub-division).

Muthuraj, KSRTC depot manager, Maddur, has requested the police to conduct an inquiry.
