Four seriously injured in group clash

Four people suffered serious injuries, while eight others suffered minor ones, in a clash between two groups allegedly over a love affair at Keeryanaikana Hatti near Banavara in Arsikere taluk on Sunday night.

The injured Srinath (27), Puttaraju (35), Shankar (32), and Shivaraj (22), have been admitted to a hospital in Hassan for treatment.

According to the Banavara police, Srinath had an affair with Nandini (22), of the same village. They planned to get married after taking their parents into confidence. As the girl’s parents opposed their marriage, the couple left to Dharmastala and returned home married. When they fled the place, both families had filed complaints with Banavara police against each other.

However, it is said, as the couple returned to the village, the girl’s parents invited Srinath and his family to their home on Sunday night. When they reached the place, they were allegedly beaten up by girl’s relatives. This resulted in a clash between the two groups. Those who suffered minor injuries received treatment as outpatients in Arsikere and J.C. Pura hospitals. However, so far, neither group has filed a complaint.
