The Horticulture Department, the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat and Siri Horticulture Association are jointly organising flower and fruit show to mark the Republic Day from January 26 to January 29 at Kadri Park in the city.

A press release here said that the show is being organised to encourage residents to indulge in gardening and horticulture activities.

Such activities would not only conserve environment but also beautify localities, add value to products and ensure cleanliness.

Use of organic farming and deploying modern gardening techniques would take horticulture activities to newer avenues, the release said.

As an added attraction to the show, food and cultural festivals too are organised during the occasion.

A host of competitions is also being organised for the residents of the city. Competitions in fresh flower decoration and flower rangoli, and a display of different flowering and decorative plants, would be organised during the show. Competition in vegetable and fruit carving is also scheduled.

Those interested in participating in the show as well as the competitions may contact the Senior Assistant Director (Horticulture) or the Siri Horticulture Association, Horticulture Department, Bendore, Mangaluru, on Ph: 9845523944, 0824-2412628, 9480354968.
