In a joint operation, officials of the Labour Department, the Planning Officer of the District Child Labour Project, the Regional Transport Authority and the police rescued eight child workers while they were being transported for field work in the villages of Manvi and Deodurg taluks on Tuesday.
Intercepted
According to a release from the office of the District Child Labour Project, the children were being transported in six autorickshaws near Deodurg and Manvi Cross when the officials intercepted the vehicles.
A case was registered in the Sirwar Police Station.
Manjunath Reddy, Planning Officer of the District Child Labour Project, Raichur, Nagaraj Naik, Vehicle Inspector, and B. Khadri, Sub-Inspector of Police of Sirwar Police Station, and others were on the team, the release added.
