The police have booked a case against Deen Dayaal, president, Bajrang Dal district unit, on the charge of delivering inflammatory speech at ‘Go Satyagraha’, a programme on the conservation of cattle, held recently under the aegis of Go Andolana Samiti at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city.

The programme was attended by K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, and M.B. Bhanuprakash, MLC. It is said that Mr. Dayaal delivered the speech after Mr. Eshwarappa left the venue.

According to the FIR filed at Jayanagar police station, in his address, Mr. Dayaal said that 60 abattoirs were functioning in the district by flouting laws and slaughtering cattle. He said that though several memorandums were submitted to district administration and the police for the closure of these abattoirs, no action had been taken in this regard. The police have said that, while speaking on the alleged slaughtering of cattle in the unlicensed abattoirs, Mr. Dayaal had tried to incite communal feelings.

The police have lodged a suo-moto complaint against Mr. Daayal and filed a case under various sections of Code of Criminal Procedure against him for trying to disturb communal harmony.
