Cracks develop in Reddy camp

Karunakar Reddy files 10 cases against Sriramulu

Fissures have come out in the open in the camp of the Ballari Reddy brothers now, with G. Karunakar Reddy, former Minister, filing cases in a local court against B. Sriramulu, MP, who is a close associate of his brother G. Janardhan Reddy, seeking declaration of title of a property.

Following this, one Nagappa, said to be a follower of Mr. Sriramulu, lodged an atrocity case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Mr. Karunakar Reddy.

Enquiries revealed that both Mr. Karunakar Reddy and Mr. Sriramulu had purchased lands in Haddinagundu village on the outskirts of the city in 1997 and had developed a layout in the name of senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, who they had considered as their “god mother”.

A couple of days ago, Mr. Karunakar Reddy had filed as many as 10 cases against Mr. Sriramulu in the Principal Senior Civil Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Ballari seeking declaration of title deed in his name.

After the fall of the B.S. Yeddyurappa government in July 2011, Mr. Karunakar Reddy, Mr. Janardhan Reddy, and Mr. Sriramulu, who were Ministers, lost power. Since then, Mr. Karunakar Reddy disassociated himself from the group and remained loyal to the BJP. He avoided appearing in public in Ballari and did not participate in any of the BJP meetings too, which raised eyebrows. On Saturday, Mr. Nagappa lodged a complaint with the Ballari (Rural) police against Mr. Karunakar Reddy and his brother-in-law Vishwanath Reddy, accusing them of using foul language and abusing him by his caste.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sriramulu claimed that Mr. Nagappa was not his supporter.
