Senior BJP leader and fourth-time sitting MLA from Kagwad (Athani taluk) Bharamagouda (alias) Raju Kage and his family members, who are facing charges of attempt to murder for allegedly carrying out an attack on a youth Congress worker Vivek Shetty, are reportedly absconding, even as the district police have formed three teams to trace them.
The delay in arresting the suspects immediately after the complaint from the victim on Monday seems to have provided time for the accused to escape from Ugar town.
The police officials said the all the 13 persons accused in the case belonging to the Kage family, including Mr. Kage, are not to be found and a hunt had been launched to trace them.
The police officials denied of any knowledge of the accused trying for anticipatory bail.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police K. Ramachandra Rao is holding North Range level meeting with Superintendents of Police and Dy.SPs at the district headquarters since morning. The meeting, convened to take law and order situation and review crime situation in the North range, is expected to conclude by evening.
