8 held in robbery case

The Hassan police arrested eight persons, including two women, in connection with a robbery reported in Nuggehalli police station limits in Channarayapatna taluk on July 11. The police have recovered Rs. 70,000 and two rings from the accused.

Superintendent of Police R.K. Shahapurwad, in a press conference on Friday, said a group of 12 persons had robbed a family staying in farm house at Basavapura near Nuggehalli. Satish, the owner of the farm house, had filed a complaint. During investigation, the police found that Drakshayini, a native of the village, who had settled in Bengaluru, hatched a conspiracy along with others.

The arrested are Praveen (27), Vinay (23), Shanthamma (45), Drakshayini (30), Arun Kumar (23), Saikumar of Bengaluru, Anil (23) of Arsikere, and Chandrashekhar of Tumakuru. The police are yet to arrest four more.
