Mysore district in-charge Minister S.A. Ramdas said in Mysore on Monday that the district administration was inviting ambassadors of 70 countries to take part in Dasara festivities. The district authorities were in touch with the Delhi government to liaise with the ambassadors concerned.

The Minister said that the Mysore district officials would formally invite Sri Siddeshwara Swami from Bijapur to inaugurate the Dasara festival on October 14.

Mr. Ramdas was addressing presspersons at the Mysore palace here after welcoming the first batch of six Dasara elephants. In reply to a query, he said that Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar would formally inaugurate the Dasara Authority, which will organise all functions related to the festival in future. The government has released Rs. 6 crore for organising Dasara festivities and Rs. 4 crore would be released later.

A Government Order would be released soon with regard to constitution of 27 different committees (samitis) to conduct Dasara.

Yuva Dasara will not be held this time. A Vidwat Goshti would be organised to commemorate the literary contributions and development of Mysore under the rule of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. Scholars from across the nation would be invited to participate. A meet on music would also be held to commemorate the development made in the field under the rule of Jayachamaraja Wadiyar. A Government Order would soon be issued on the two events.

Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa would be requested to hold a videoconference with the Chief Executive Officers of the zilla panchayats to discuss preparations being made to take out tableaux from each of the districts during the Dasara procession. Mr. Ramdas said that all civil works in the city would be completed before Dasara. The Minister said Rs. 5 crore would be released for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Mysore City Corporation (MCC). The MCC would work in co-ordination with the district administration to ensure successful Dasara.

Kabini water will be supplied to the city during Dasara. Mayor M.C. Rajeshwari was present.
