4,673 candidates write NET in Gulbarga

As many as 4,673 candidates appeared for the National Eligibility Test (NET) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) in social sciences. The exam was held at six centres, including on the main campus of Gulbarga University, in the city on Sunday.

Registrar of Gulbarga University Dayanand Agsar said that the examinations — held in two sessions in the morning and afternoon — went off smoothly. The answer sheets would be sent to the UGC office in New Delhi.

The other five centres where the examination was held was Government Degree College, MSI Degree College, N.V. Degree College, S.B. Degree College and B.R. Ambedkar Degree College. More than 390 staff drawn from Gulbarga University and affiliated colleges worked as invigilators and supervisors to ensure smooth conduct of exams at all six centres.

Prof. Agsar said a total of 5,887 candidates had registered to appear for the examination. Part 1 and Part 2 of the exam were held from 9.30 a.m. to noon, while Part 3 was held in the afternoon session from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Prof. Agsar said students from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka wrote the examination.
