4,617 candidates submit papers in Chitradurga

As many as 4,617 candidates have submitted nomination papers for 3,367 seats in 186 gram panchayats in Chitradurga district.

According to Deputy Commissioner Srirangaiah, the election will be held for 308 seats in 15 gram panchayats in Molkalmuru taluk, 755 seats in 40 gram panchayats in Challakere, 727 seats in 38 gram panchayats in Chitradurga, 590 seats in 33 gram panchayats in Hiriyur, 494 seats in 31 gram panchayats in Hosadurga taluk, and 493 seats in 29 gram panchayats in Holalkere taluk.

Of the total nomination papers filed, 1,160 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes, 861 are for the Scheduled Tribes, 331 are Backward Classes Minorities A and 67 are Backward Classes Minorities B.

The remaining are general category seats.
