Around 35,000 beneficiaries of various government schemes implemented by the State government are expected to participate in the two-day ‘Mahiti Utsav’ being organised at University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) Dharwad on October 22 and 23.

After having inspected the preparations for the mega event of the Belagavi Division along with Ministers H.K. Patil, Rudrappa Lamani and Vinay Kulkarni, and other senior officials, Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries R.V. Deshpande told presspersons here on Thursday that since many people, apart from the beneficiaries, were expected to attend, elaborate preparations were being made.

Mr. Deshpande said that the State government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had implemented several initiatives to help the people of the State and the event was meant to share the joy of successful implementation of the schemes and also to disburse the benefits under various schemes to the beneficiaries in the current fiscal. He said as 35,000 beneficiaries from seven districts of Belagavi Revenue Division were expected to participate, steps were being taken to arrange their transport and food distribution at the venue.

Mr. Deshpande said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would participate in the event on Monday (Oct. 23) and disburse benefits to various beneficiaries. On both the days, cultural programmes by artistes from the region and across the country would be organised.

Earlier, the Ministers sought details from the team of officials that included Director of Information Department P.S. Harsha, Belagavi Regional Commisioner Shivayogi Kalasad, Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad S.B. Bommanahalli, CEO of zilla panchayat R. Snehal, and others about the preparations.

Meanwhile, a campaign involving mobile units to publicise various government schemes implemented by the State government in the last four years has begun in all taluks of the seven districts from October 17.
