3 dead as tourist bus rams truck near Nipani

Three persons, including a 60-year-old woman, were killed on the spot and 23 injured when a tourist bus rammed into a stationary truck near Karnataka State Sales Tax checkpost on Pune-Bangalore NH4 near Nipani town of Chikkodi taluk in Belgaum district in the early hour of Monday.

All the victims were from different cities and towns of Maharashtra and were returning from a South India tour when the accident occurred in the dark hours.

The deceased are Manisha Babasaheb Palve (60) of Sarode Garden in Kalyan; and Mangesh Anna Dasing (22) and Bhausaheb Nanasaheb (55) from Shirdi. Their bodies have been shifted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Nipani town for post-mortem. While those with major injuries were shifted to a hospital in Kolhapur, those with minor injuries had been admitted at the Nipani hospital.

The Nipani Town Police have registered a case and informed the tourist operator about the accident.
