The State government has plans to provide facilities under different government schemes to all eligible beneficiaries in the State and the officers in all taluk offices should co-operate with it and ensure that such facilities reached such beneficiaries, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimappa has said.

Speaking after distributing property documents to bagair hukum farmers in Hosadurga taluk of Chitradurga district on Sunday, he said that a total of 10 lakh applications were received by the State government seeking legalising bagair hukum land. There were more than 5 lakh applications pending owing to various complicated issues and after assuming office as Revenue Minister, he took immediate steps to dispose of more than 2.5 lakh applications.

There are plans to dispose of the remaining 2.5 applications in the next three months by taking all the concerned officers into confidence. The officers concerned have been instructed to give clear instructions to hold meetings at regular intervals to sort out issues related to bagair hukum land in all the taluks of the State and issue proper documents to eligible beneficiaries.

“As per norms, the beneficiary should be staying in the land for a minimum of 75 years as on 2005 and should provide required documents, including statements from elders in the family, for regularisation,” he added.

To quickly dispose of pending applications, more powers have been given to tahsildars. The tahsildars should visit the land personally to verify the documents before finalising the names of beneficiaries, he said.

Earlier, the Minister laid the foundation stone for construction of a taluk office at Hosadurga at a cost of ₹ 2.10 crore.

B.G. Govindappa, MLA, presided over the function. B.N. Chandrappa, MP, and Tahsildar Mallikarjun were present.
