April 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - KALABURAGI:

As many as 235 undergraduate and postgraduate students, from different streams including engineering, management computer science, and commerce, were recruited by reputed companies during a recruitment drive conducted by the Regional Centre of the Visvesvaraya Technological University here recently.

Speaking after inaugurating the drive, Deputy Commissioner Vipul Bansal said that the backwardness of a region should not be a block for the development of the region and the people should counter backwardness by forward thinking and positive actions.

Mr. Bansal said that he too hailed from a backward region in Uttar Pradesh, but that did not held him back in his bid to achieve success in the academic and professional life. “An area can be backward due to several reasons, but the people from the backward region need not necessarily be backward,” he said.
