As many as 223 medical seats are now available for students to choose from in the second round of counselling for Common Entrance Test (CET) rank holders.
The newly added colleges in the seat matrix released on Thursday include ESI Medical College, Bangalore and Gulbarga (40 seats each), MVJ Medical College, Bangalore (12 seats), Vydehi Medical College, Bangalore (25 seats), Al-Ameen Medical College, Bijapur (12 seats), JSS Medical College, Mysore (12 seats) and Tadikela Subbaiah Medical College, Shimoga (82 seats). This takes the total number of government and government-quota medical seats to 2,437.
More dental seats have been added as well, including in V.S. Dental College, Bangalore (14 seats), Rajiv Gandhi Dental College, Bangalore (14 seats) and Srinivasa Dental College, Mangalore (25 seats).
Even though no seats were left in the medical stream at the end of the first round of counselling, the candidates have been urged by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to enter as many options as possible as consequential vacancies may arise during the allotment process and the candidates will have a chance of getting a better seat if they have entered the options. Students who want to cancel their seat can do before 11 a.m. on July 22. Refund, if any, will be given, after deducting the processing fee.
As on Thursday at 6 p.m., 21,940 of the total 70,740 registered students had entered 5.97 lakh options. The second round of counselling, which started on Wednesday, is treated as a fresh round of option entry. As many as 4,193 students had entered 1.08 lakh options for medical, and 18,565 had entered 4.57 lakh options for engineering seats. Though there were no vacant seats after the first round of counselling, 6,056 students had entered options for agriculture courses, while 327 had entered options for architecture.
