Twenty-one trekkers, who were detained by officers of the Department of Forests for alleged trespassing in the reserve forest in Sakleshpur taluk, were granted bail by a magistrate on Tuesday night.

The department had booked cases against the trekkers, who were part of two teams, under Section 24 of the Karnataka Forest Act, 1963. While one of the teams with 14 members was from Chennai, the other was from Bangalore. One of the members of the Chennai team, Srikant Balaji, got lost in the forest on Saturday and was traced on Tuesday.

While members of the Chennai team were detained when they were returning to Bangalore by a bus on Tuesday, those of the other were detained near Kadumane Tea Estate.
