Twenty persons, including children, were injured when a private bus, travelling from Mangaluru to Bengaluru, rammed into a stationary truck on National Highway 75 at Kanchinakote village in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district early on Tuesday.
The critically injured were admitted to a private hospital near Bellur, near Nagamangala, the police said. The truck was parked on the right lane, close to the median, on the NH following a mechanical defect. Neither were there reflectors nor were the indicator lamps switched on to alert other drivers that the truck was parked on the highway, the police said.
According to the police, the driver of the bus belonging to Bharathi travels failed to notice the truck and rammed into it. The front portion of the bus was badly damaged.
