2 BJP workers stabbed at Kathirur

Two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers suffered stab injuries in an attack by alleged Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] workers at Muzhavayal, near Pathayakkunnu, under the Kathirur police station limits here in the early hours of Monday.

The injured have been identified as Amith, 22, son of Thekkumbadpoil Ajayan; and his neighbour Nijil, 21, son of Chambadankandy Madhavan. Nijil, who suffered head injuries in the attack, has been admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode.

Amith has been admitted to a hospital at Thalassery.

The police said the two youths were attacked at 1 a.m. when they were returning home after attending a local temple festival.
