Yet another incident of food poisoning was reported in Yadgir district late on Friday after 19 nursing students staying in a hostel run by the Department for Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare were admitted to the district general hospital after they complained of stomach pain and vomiting.

M.S. Patil, district surgeon, told The Hindu on Saturday that the students were out of danger.

As many as 44 students were admitted to the hospital in two separate incidents of food poisoning in a single day in Yadgir.

Deputy Commissioner Khushboo Goel Chowdhary visited the students and said that they might have been affected by mild food poisoning.

She said she has sought a report from the officials concerned.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that she would take stern action against those responsible for the incident.
