Fifteen people were injured, three of them seriously, after a KSRTC bus fell into a dry tank at Iragappanahalli cross in Dibboor police limits in Sidlaghatta taluk in Chickballapur district on Wednesday.

The driver of the bus reportedly lost control of the vehicle, while attempting to avoid an oncoming motorcycle. The bus then fell into the Lingayyana kere.

Headed to Bagepalli

The bus was proceeding to Bagepalli from Chintamani when the accident occurred. The three persons who were seriously injured were taken to NIMHANS in Bengaluru, while the others were treated at government hospitals in Sidlaghatta, Chintamani and Chickballapur.

‘Widen the road’

Residents of surrounding villages claimed that accidents frequently occurred on the narrow Chintamani–Bagepalli Road and demanded widening of the road.
