14-year-old raped in Mandya

A 32-year-old man allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in front of her mentally challenged younger sister at her residence on Saturday.

The accused was identified by the Mandya West Station police as M. Bojaiah, a resident of Girija Slum here. According to the girl’s parents, a Rs. 2,000 loan had been taken by the victim’s mother about a year ago. Bojaiah had made occasional visits to the residence seeking loan repayment.

The parents were not at home when the accused allegedly barged into the house.

The accused is absconding, the police said.
