Twelve persons from Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh met with an accident near Hubballi on Tuesday morning. Of them, five died on-the-spot, six suffered injury and one escaped unhurt in the accident.

The group of 12 people were on the way to Goa for a trip in a multi-utility vehicle when the mishap occurred on Gadag Road in the outskirts of Hubballi. According to initial reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle after one of the tyres burst. The vehicle overturned after hitting the parapet wall of a bridge.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, A.S. Ghori (Crime and Traffic) told The Hindu that the people belonged to C. Belagal in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. They had left their native on Monday night and the accident took place around 6.30 a.m. near Hubballi.
