11 killed in bus-van collision in Gadag district

As many as 11 persons were killed and one seriously injured when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus and a four-wheeler collided on National Highway 63 near Harlapur village in Gadag district on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police of Gadag district K.T. Balakrishna said that the dead are six women, four men and one male child. While 10 of them were killed on the spot, one died in hospital.

In critical condition

The condition of the injured person is said to be critical. All of them were residents of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in Gadag town, he said.

While the KSRTC bus was on its way to Hosapete from Hubballi, the four-wheeler was carrying 12 passengers, after a marriage at Mandalageri village in Yelburga taluk of Koppal district, on the way to Gadag.

The identification of the dead is yet to be made.

A case was registered at the Mundargi police station.
