11 injured in group clash in Raichur

Over 11 people, including women, were injured in a clash between two groups at Gunjalli village in Raichur on Friday night. The injured were initially admitted to a local hospital and the critically wounded were taken to hospitals in Raichur and Ballari. According to the villagers, a heated exchange of words between two groups, allegedly the supporters of Congress and BJP, in connection with the recently concluded gram panchayat elections, turned into a violent clash. Iron rods, axes and cudgels were used.

Following a complaint by one group, the Yeragera police have registered a case against 17 people.
