Scores of health enthusiasts and people from different walks of life took part in a 10 kilometre run in Hubballi on Sunday to create awareness on Psoriasis.

The event was organised by Hubballi Fitness Club (HFC) in association with Dermatology Association of Hubballi as part of ‘World Psoriasis Day.’

The participants gathered at Nrupatunga Betta in Hubballi early in the morning to take part in the run.

Prior to the flagging off of the 10-km run, senior Dermatologist Dr. Raghavendra Tophkane briefed about the disease.

He said October 29 was being observed as "World Psoriasis day" to create awareness. Like other noted chronic conditions Diabetes and Hypertension, complete cure was not available for Psoriasis, he said. He also advised people to not to fall prey to unrealistic promises about complete cure made by quacks.

Event coordinator and physician Dr. Mahesh Kumar Shankar said HFC had been organising similar events for awareness and was getting ready to hold the third edition of the half marathon (21.1 kms) in Hubballi on November 19 at 5.30 a.m. According to HFC around 200 persons took part in the 10k run.
