Most educational institutions and business establishments in Karamsad, the birthplace of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, observed a bandh on Friday protesting against Jaswant Singh’s book questioning the patriotism of the Iron Man of India.

The bandh was called by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

The NSUI units also organised protests in various other places in the State. In Ahmedabad, they held a demonstration in front of Sardar Patel’s statue and burnt an effigy of Mr. Singh.

NSUI general secretary Prakash Gurjar, described Mr. Singh as the leader of the “Bharatiya Jinnah Party,” and demanded that criminal action be taken against him.
