The CBI special court hearing the 2G spectrum case is expected to pronounce on Friday its order on the bail plea moved by Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi. She and Kalaignar TV Managing Director Sharad Kumar had offered to execute bail bonds to ensure their presence in court and avoid being sent to judicial custody.

On May 14, Special Judge O.P. Saini had reserved his order on the matter for Friday citing “paucity of time.” Ms. Kanimozhi and Mr. Kumar were summoned to the court on May 6 by Mr. Saini after they were made accused in the case by the CBI in its supplementary charge sheet filed on April 25. Another accused in the case, Cineyug Films promoter and Bollywood producer, Karim Morani, is yet to appear before the court.

He has been seeking exemption since May 6 citing medical grounds. The court has directed Mr. Morani to submit records of his medical condition on May 21 after getting himself examined at either of the two designated government hospitals in Mumbai.
