“Just give him a chance, that’s all,” a vocal supporter of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi told this correspondent as the crowd began filtering away from the BJP leader’s rally on Thursday.
He chose not to give his name like the health department official, who had skipped office to listen to Mr. Modi speak at the Swavlambi school ground in Wardha.
“We need change. The current Congress MP from Wardha has a feudal mindset. No development funds reach the people,” the health official said.
Banker Santosh Nagde felt that Mr. Modi should have spoken about urban issues as well. “What he said about the farmers was fine, but he should have talked about issues that concern us urban residents as well.”
So, whom would Mr. Nagde vote for? Would he listen to a Rahul Gandhi’s speech before making up his mind? “No, no, not at all. I have no plans to listen to Rahul.”
“ Mr. Modi should have talked about technology, computers and issues that interest the young,” a woman, who said she was a niece of BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, said.
