Awaiting a long-pending homecoming, the family of Indian aid worker Judith D’Souza, who was rescued after being abducted in Kabul thanked the government of India and the Ministry of External affairs for bringing back Judith.

On Saturday morning, when The Hindu spoke to Judith’s brother Jerome D’Souza and sister Agnes, they profusely thanked Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and asked the media to respect the family’s privacy.

“We are grateful to the government of India and particularly to the tireless efforts of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj,” Jerome said.

Agnes was hesitant to interact with journalists who made at the first floor apartment in the heart of the city.

Even, the neighbours of the D’Souza family were relieved when the tweet of Ms. Swaraj informed the world about the release of Judith D ‘Souza.

“Whenever I used to meet Judith's mother, I used to ask her about updates and she would say ‘pray for her’,” a neighbour told journalists waiting near D’Souza’s residence.
